The village of Svalbard is one of only a few settlements in the world located entirely within the Arctic Circle. As such it's one of the northernmost inhabited towns on Earth. Roughly 800 people live on Svalbard, a number which is a fraction of the animals that reside here. Polar bears are known to roam the local terrain, and as such, the town's houses are well-equipped to deter any unwanted intruders.

Indigenous Architecture

The houses in the Arctic village are bright. Architectural features of the houses are as varied as their colors. The settlement is dominated by snow, ice, and mountains, and houses painted in bright colors of yellow, blue, green, and red are clustered together contrastingly.
